Update on Proposed Change

A few streets at the Evergreen area of San Jose, CA.

This is a quick update on the previous post, This is the End. The title was poorly chosen. What I should have written was that some changes are due after 23 years of the blog.

A few readers have very kindly left supportive comments letting me know that they’d be happy to contribute. I am delighted. One may ask, why involve money? The happy fact is that I am very comfortably off. As it happens, I have all that I need or even want, and I am not responsible for anyone. Except that I am, by my nature, moved to help those whom I can.

I regularly give to charity. In fact, a family member does the giving because he knows where and how to help, and I settle the account at the end of the year. But every now and then, I come across requests for help from people in my residential complex (it’s huge). I am fortunate that I have the ability to give.

It occurred to me that I should request my readers who I do believe are well off to drop me a buck or two if they found my posts of some value. I will use the proceeds to help those in need. Every bit matters when one is in dire need.

I don’t appreciate people moralizing and I won’t do it. If it sounds like moralizing, then I beg your pardon.

I asked a couple of friends for advice on how to go about it. The mechanism had to be simple for my readers in India and in the US. I see that I have quite a few readers from the UK and from China as well.

As I am very busy for the next couple of weeks, I will put off the changes. For now, the usual erratic schedule of posts will continue. Thanks again for the encouraging comments on the previous post. You have my gratitude.

I love the street names. You know why: I love music.

The names in that little segment of the map include composers: Enesco, Piccini, Brahms, Paganini, Sibelius, Mozart, and Chopin are present. Then you have moods: tranquility, mirth, revelry, solace. And dramas: Ophelia, Othello, Rigoletto.

An area marked out with a green pin is Asana Park. The word is Sanskrit meaning a posture for yoga.

I love the sentiment conveyed by the word “solace.” Let’s listen to a Scott Joplin tune titled “Solace.” Joplin’s tunes provided the soundtrack for that excellent movie The Sting starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman.

Why not a two-fer! One for the road, eh? The Beatles’ Penny Lane it shall be.

Be well, do good work, and keep in touch.
