I am persuaded that a civil war in the U.K. is becoming increasingly inevitable. It’s a sure bet that the kingdom will be engulfed in a major civil war that no developed country has suffered in modern times. Give it at most five years. Before the year 2030 to be specific. That civil war will be the opening shot of a war that will either be the end of civilization or end Islam. It’s a binary, not an analog, outcome.
Since humanity is too resilient to end by 2030, that only means that Islam is poised at the beginning of its end. Give it another 10 years, by 2040 Islam will be over.
Since the loss of its empire in the mid-20th century, the U.K. has been declining dramatically. For reasons I cannot fathom, its leaders (particularly post the Margaret Thatcher era) appear to be hell-bent on committing civilizational suicide. They opened the gates to barbarians from Islamic nations, particularly from Pakistan and Bangladesh.
What the hell is wrong with the British? What are they thinking, for crying out loud!
The U.K. is no stranger to religious wars in centuries past. In the 17th century CE, there were the First, Second and Third English civil wars in England, and concurrent wars in Scotland and Ireland. The latter wars involved religious conflict.
In the Scottish Bishops’ Wars (1639–1640), Presbyterian Covenanters fought Charles I over church governance. In the Scottish Civil War (1644–1645), Royalist Highland and Catholic forces fought the Presbyterians. The Irish Confederate Wars (1641–1653) were a rebellion by Irish Catholics against English Protestant settlers which ended with Cromwell’s brutal conquest of Ireland.
The 21st century civil war in the U.K. will see a return of religious wars in Europe. This time it will be between Islam and the rest.
My English friend, the late Keith Hudson, began a 2007 email dispatch titled “Multiculturism doesn’t work” with:
For 45 years, the Iron Curtain was the central dividing line in Europe. That line has moved several hundred miles east. It is now the line separating the peoples of Western Christianity, on the one hand, from Muslim and Orthodox peoples on the other.” Samuel Huntington (Winter 2006.)
Samuel Huntington seemed to be astonishingly prescient when his book, The Clash of Civilizations (1996), was followed only five years later by the attack of fanatical Muslims on the Twin Towers in New York. He is also far too good an historian not to admit – as he does later in an interview in the NPQ – that there are other dividing lines between major cultures.
Huntington was direct in his assessment of Islam. He wrote,
Islam’s borders are bloody and so are its innards. The fundamental problem for the West is not Islamic fundamentalism. It is Islam, a different civilisation whose people are convinced of the superiority of their culture and are obsessed with the inferiority of their power.
Wars between nations occur along fault lines that lie along national boundaries; civil wars occur when the fault line lies within a nation. Two different nations that are culturally distinct and mutually antagonistic cannot coexist within a national boundary. Muslims and non-Muslims have never coexisted peacefully ever. Islam’s foundational commandment that it must dominate non-Muslims makes it incompatible with other cultures, and indeed with civilization.
Huntington again:
It is my hypothesis that the fundamental source of conflict in this new world will not be primarily ideological or primarily economic. The great divisions among humankind and the dominating source of conflict will be cultural. Nation-states will remain the most powerful actors in world affairs, but the principal conflicts of global politics will occur between nations and groups of different civilizations. The clash of civilizations will dominate global politics. The fault lines between civilizations will be the battle lines of the future. (Emphasis added.)
Culture lies at the core of the conflict between Islam and the rest of the civilized world. The dharmas (Hindu, Buddhist and Jain) are quite compatible with modern civilization. But among the religions (namely Judaism, Christianity and Islam), only Islam is singularly incapable of changing and evolving with modernity; it alone by construction, definition and design is rigidly fixed to be the ideology of a 7th century nomadic desert tribe of ignorant herders.
Only Islam cannot evolve. It’s rigid, inflexible, incapable of learning.
Hindus, Christians, Buddhists, Jews, Confucians, Sikhs, Jains, animists, Shintos, Taoists, atheists, agnostics — they all can and do accommodate, adjust, tolerate, and accept others in the pursuit of peace. But not Muslims. They refuse to assimilate because they are commanded by their ideology to dominate, to kill, to annihilate those who have different beliefs.
Well, this is not going to end well, Can it? It won’t.
Islam will end because all things must pass, as the dharmas proclaim. But not before a lot of needless blood and treasure is lost, and attendant immense human suffering. That too is what Buddha realized: the truth of suffering.
Communism killed hundreds of millions of innocents in the two centuries since it has been around. Islam has killed a lot more in the 14 centuries since its inception. It is my contention that Islam is the more virulent of the two bloody ideologies. Therefore I believe Islam will die before communism (or its less bloody variant socialism) dies because it is more deadly.
Either Islam dies or humanity dies. But since humanity is resilient, Islam will die.
How will the conflict between Islam and the West end? That’s an easy one. The Christian West has produced the modern world. Its theology (though not the most sophisticated in the world), its philosophy (pretty good and mostly Greek in origin, nothing compared to Indian philosophy), its technology and science (the best in the world), and its culture (second to none) are too powerful to be defeated by a people whose culture is based on a 7th century barbaric theology cooked up by 7th century sex-crazed warlord.
Islam cannot win. But having brought their fight to the West, it is guaranteed to lose. In a pre-modern world, it was able to dominate parts of the world. But now it has, out of ignorance and hubris, bitten off more than it can chew. I believe it will die a quick but bloody death.
John Cleese is a legend. His “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” was TV favorite, as was “Life of Brian.” A perennial favorite is Fawlty Towers. Of late, he’s been speaking up against the Islamic invasion of Britian. Naturally he’s a prime target of the Islamists.
Good for us. But I wonder how long it will be before a Muslim beheads him.
