The DD Blue Turban Government Promotes Islamic Terrorism

That’s my conclusion. YMMV. Ashok Malik wrote a piece in Hindustan Times, “Modi Operandi.” While the title is too clever by half, you should check it out. An excerpt below the fold.

It is worth asking where this excessive and mind-numbing focus on Modi is headed. Whether one likes his politics or doesn’t, believes he is India’s best chief minister or isn’t, considers him a future prime minister or too much of a hot potato for BJP allies, the fact remains that he needs to be viewed through a conventional political prism and not one of a fevered imagination.

Consider examples. One, it has been clear for a long time that there is no legal case against Modi for the 2002 violence and he is not guilty of acts of deliberate commission. With even the Supreme Court appointed Special Investigative Team (SIT) said to have to come to the same conclusion, Modi haters — who range from Mumbai-based celebrities to a retired police officer still settling bureaucratic scores — have begun to denounce the SIT and are approaching the UN Human Rights Commission.

Two, the WikiLeaks cables reveal that western intelligence agencies believe the Lashkar-e-Tayyeba threat to Modi is clear and present and did not die out with the elimination of Ishrat Jehan and her accomplices. Jehan, a Mumbai student who fell into Lashkar’s grip, was killed in an encounter with the Gujarat police in 2004. Modi’s opponents insist she was innocent and the Laskhar plot a concoction. Perhaps now they will argue Modi wrote the WikiLeaks cables.

How long can this continue? If any other Indian politician was found to be mentioned as a Lashkar target in the cables, it would have had the media engrossed. Not with Modi; it’s almost as if he’s fair game. As for the Union government, it wants to fight terrorists — but not terrorists whom the Gujarat police have found. It’s so cynical; those 60 Indian Mujahideen men in Ahmedabad must be laughing.

  1. Extremely unfortunate to Atanu is targeting PM not by his name, but by using silly comments about of personal nature. This shows your true self Mr Atanu.

You might be a self-styled economist, but you are a very poor human being.

  4. 1) Beenu, if it pleases you, Atanu has spoken about MMS more directly before. For example:

    http://www.deeshaa.org/2010/06/02/manmohan-singh-is-really-and-truly-a-despicably-dishonest-man/

    2) I was happy to see a decent article in a national newspaper on MMS and Sonia:

    http://www.indianexpress.com/news/he-said-she-said/724893/
    http://www.indianexpress.com/news/Snap-out-of-denial/656342

Also, it seems that the author had to resign from an Education Commission in India because of a difference of opinion on Higher Education Policy. One can guess what must have happened.

  5. Comments like Beenu’s annoy me to a great extent! Because, it is about the most irrelevant detail in this post. I mean, the guy has nothing to say about the more egregious and consequential things being spoken about in the post. But, he is quick to pick on an irrelevant reference.

This is a common problem I find in India. How one says something seems to matter more that what is being said. The substance is overlooked if the method/attitude is aggressive or offensive in any mild way. Is it a sense of insecurity, immaturity, both or something else? Its extremely annoying!

  6. I am surprised that HT can publish this. Can anyone verify if it appears in print version of HT also? If not, then I would say that Vir Sangvi is trying hard to gain his lost credibility among the much-hated internet Hindus. 🙂
    @Beenu,
Please. This is Atanu’s blog, he has the right to criticize anyone here. If it is so hard about taking criticism about MMS, why are you bothered with his blog pages? Sit in front of MMS’s photos and mediate.

I am wondering if you Atanu Dey writing under different pseudo-names.
Nevertheless, it shows lack of education and poor upbringing when you target people on a persona basis. Target his policies, actions if you would.

  11. Beenu, It seems that you are an honest but uninformed, ignorant, semi-literate, un-opinionated person of little or no literacy. May you please educate yourself adequately, before you start commenting on public forums. Others know what they are speaking. If you have an alternate/ differing opinion, you can speak your heart out substantiated with facts and arguments. Simply criticizing some else’s view on any person is bad manners. In fact it is precisely because of such bad manners of our prime minister, we all call him a man of no consequence. You need not be more than a matriculate to understand this, provided you have an iota of concern for our nations bright future. If you have spent all your life in an obscure part of India brought up on welfare schemes of nehru-indira-rajiv, then I apologize for making an attempt to correct you.

  12. Hello Beenu, I’m a poor human being too and I’d like to hit you for a loan. But every time I loiter in the airport bookshop while waiting to board the flight I see copies of the crappy book lying around – the same old unsold copies, no mistaking the fact – so I reckon it’s not making you any money.

  13. Which comment of Beenu qualifies to be called accusation of dishonesty against Atanu Dey ?

Either that comment is deleted by Atanu or is probably the following one

I am wondering if you Atanu Dey writing under different pseudo-names.

I wonder if a defamation case will hold water. Beenu apologizing denied us an oppritunity to read about another interesting court case 😦
