Of the many challenges that the world is facing, climate change is the biggest and the baddest in my opinion. It has the potential to cause tremendous long-term damage and affect the most number of people.
It could be several orders of magnitude worse than the Chinese Covid19 pandemic, although they have one thing in common: the policy response to the Chinese virus imposed the terrible cost, not the disease itself. The policy response to the climate hysteria could end up destroying billions of lives. This is not hyperbole.
It is primarily ignorance, not malice, that is driving the mass paranoia about climate change. That paranoia then creates the perfect condition for politicians and their crony capitalists to reap profits while imposing misery on the general public. Therefore, it is essential that we take the time to inform ourselves about the matter and then spread the message to those we can reach.
The mainstream media relentlessly promotes the idea that climate change is going to destroy human civilization; that fossil fuel use is driving the climate change by emitting “carbon”; that CO2 is a poisonous gas that will lead to runaway global warming; that we’d all be burnt to a crisp because of the temperature rise, and all of us will drown with the rising sea level.
It is time we get a sense of why the mainstream media is tragically wrong. I have collected a few select videos of presentations that push back against the nonsense. Here they are.
The first is from the 2021 GWPF (The Global Warming Policy Foundation) Annual lecture. Steven Koonin is the author of the book ”Unsettled: What Climate Science Tells Us, What It Doesn’t, and Why It Matters.”
The next is also from GWPF. It’s from an engineering point of view. The 2019 Annual GWPF Lecture – Prof Michael Kelly: Energy Utopias and Engineering Reality.
The third one is by Prof William Happer on “How to Think About Climate Change”
The next two are by Bjorn Lomborg: (1) Keeping Your Cool on the Climate Debate
And (2) Bjorn Lomborg Declares “False Alarm” on Climate Hysteria
And finally, Alex Epstein talks Climate Change. Alex is the author of several books related to fossil fuels: “The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels”, “Fossil Future”, etc.
That should serve as a primer for understanding the big picture. One may say, “I don’t have the time to watch so many videos.” Sorry, but there’s no way around it. To understand something of importance takes time. Getting the short version of a complex topic is where the problem starts. So take your time. You have to because it is a super critical matter and it affects your future.
