New Year 2020

Although the start of a year is an arbitrarily chosen day, sufficient number of people pay attention to the change in the least significant digit of the year that it is best to go along with the hoopla and join in wishing people “A Happy New Year.”

A couple of my friends from the Silicon Valley and I spent quite a bit of time the week before last freezing out butts off there. Here are a couple of videos I took at the Times Square in Manhattan. It was windy as you can tell from flags in the video.  With the windchill it must have been 10 degrees below freezing.

Rockefeller Center where they have probably the largest Christmas tree. The skating opened just as we got there. In about 15 minutes, there were dozens of people skating. People beginning to skate at the Rockefeller Center:

And a few pictures.

Times Square. The electronic billboards are huge. I mean they’re huuuuuuggggggeee. I am sure that some are over 10-story tall.

A Starbucks coffee shop at Times Square. My friends are big into coffee. I suppose that’s part of being Silicon Valley yuppies.

Inside the massive M&M candy store at the Times Square. The prices were insane — about 4 times what I would pay at Costco.

So with that, I wish you all a very happy New Year 2020. Here’s a live-cam feed of what’s going on at the Times Square in Manhattan right now.
