Nehru in his own words

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Nehru was Gandhi’s blue-eyed boy and based solely on that dubious distinction, became the first prime minister of India. The sentiment expressed by that quote is consistent with who Nehru apparently was. Some have asked what the source of that quote is. It is from Wikiquote on Nehru. The reference to that quote leads to a 404 error. Apparently that page no longer exists on the Pioneer website. Perhaps one of these days we will figure out the source and its authenticity. But I would not be surprised if much of what Nehru or any of the celebrated Nehru-Gandhi-Maino clan’s inconvenient declarations have been removed from the public records. We have to remember that Congress governments have carefully controlled what the public gets to know. India, like all third-rate countries like North Korea and others, suffers from government censorship and control of the media. That makes the national motto — Satyameva Jayate: Truth Alone Prevails — an ironic parody of reality.

  1. The aristocrats and courtiers were mostly Muslims in the Mughal empire and the high-culture of the time was Persian in origin. It has its undeniable influence till this day, even though it is slowly changing (to what!) So, may be, it is in that context was his comment,

    I also would like to know the source and the context about this. Good find.

  2. More authenticated quote, “I am the last Englishman to rule India”, is that Nehru had said to John Galbraith in 1956 at tea table in jest. Gaibraith later became US ambassador to India during John Kennedy era.

  3. Compare Nehru’s description of himself with Narendra Modi’s of himself to Reuters: I am a Hindu, by birth. I am also a nationalist. So, if you say I am a Hindu nationalist, it is OK.

  4. Utterly non-sense and false article… these are not words of Nehru but his opponent and critic Huthseeing… its clearly mentioned in “The Nehrus” the first and well researched biography of Nehru’s father published in 1963 by John Day New York and written by BR Nanda… on chapter 3 section 43 author explain how Nehru’s opponents tried to defame Nehru using people’s religious feelings and false information… And in fact even Huthseeing never said these were words of Nehru but critic see Nehru as such one… BJP’s propaganda machinery twisted the history little and made this look like a quote and than they start publishing it as Nehru’s quote to provoke people and induce hatred for Nehru who was in fact a patriot, visionary leader and most important proud HINDU…

    1. If you tried to find more truth you’ll find that Nehru indeed was an cunning and guileful politician. he supported gandhi only because he knew that a large population is his followers.So if he stays under gandhi’s shadow,he will get the same popularity by which he can make his dirty politics. During partition-its was Jena who was more influential to win the presidential race.but nehru used his personal relation with edwina mountbatten to put pressure on lord mountbatten to be on prime ministers’s post. But he was told that jena is far ahead than him to lead the country. At this nehru was the one who projected to divide India so that he can be a PM of 1 part and Jena of other.It was Sardar Patel who tried to bind whole India under one roof for which nehru opposed for most of patel’s desicion. if he was very serious of unity of nation,he wouldn’t have applied article 370 in Kashmir. People like you the ass lickers af nehru has ruined this nations since independence. For seventy years a party is lead by one family.is this democracy? or King-Pin ship. People like you can’t even think why can’t you can have a one person out of 130 Cr population to lead 140 year old party other than nehru family…the truth is they do not believe in democracy but a “familycrazy”

  5. Some people wud ask why few people tried to spread hatred against Nehru… answer is simple… although India got Independence but there were sections in Britain who never accepted this wholeheartedly and they would leave no stone unturn to bring down India and to bring down a nation… a culture… best strategy is to bring down national icons national heroes… if its icons are down nation wudnt be difficult tobe enslaved again…

  6. [Nehru’s father was] in Macaulay’s famous phrase, ‘Indian in blood and color, but English in taste, in opinions, in morals and in intellect’. … There being no vacancies at Eton, in 1905 he packed 15-year-old Jawaharlal off to Harrow, determined that the boy grow up a proper English gentleman. He succeeded beyond his wildest dreams, and years later, at Cambridge, Jawaharlal wrote his father asking permission to transfer to Oxford: ‘Cambridge is becoming too full of Indians.’ Those disliked countrymen, much to their ruin, would one day be led by Jawaharlal”.

  7. Partition of India is not a blunder except that many thousands have lost their lives.
    Just imagine India now if not partitioned, with aggressively growing population of Muslims everywhere, each one having multiple wives and each wife with 10s of children. The majority of total population of India would be only Muslims and there wont be any peace within the country. God only saved India in the name of partition. The whole country would have become a big Pakistan. Slowly Hinduism would become extinct. So its a blessing in disguise. Partition happened for the good of our country, though the intentions of the political leaders of that time, were something else.

    1. The partition of India was an unalloyed blessing, not a “blessing in disguise.” The moron Gandhi should be shamed for forcing non-Muslims to continue to stay in Pakistan. Let me not mince words: Gandhi was the biggest disaster that India had had in modern times.

  8. How come a man become a Mahatma if he is extremely jealous & envious to his younger comrade only because the latter has the vision and power of reasoning to read & solve problems better then the former, & not biased to any community on the contrary loved & liked by every community.
