The Devil in the Vatican

There is a very famous woman in India who is a Roman Catholic. Roman Catholics take as their undisputed leader the Bishop of Rome, aka the Pope, or Papa. You’d have thought that in this day and age, people would have given up on medieval superstitions. Most have but some — even some very powerful people — are superstitious. How superstitious?

The Devil is lurking in the very heart of the Roman Catholic Church, the Vatican’s chief exorcist claimed on Wednesday. I am not making this up. It’s from the BBC.

Father Gabriele Amorth said people who are possessed by Satan vomit shards of glass and pieces of iron. . .

“The Devil resides in the Vatican and you can see the consequences,” said Father Amorth, 85, who has been the Holy See’s chief exorcist for 25 years.

“He can remain hidden, or speak in different languages, or even appear to be sympathetic. At times he makes fun of me. But I’m a man who is happy in his work.”
. . . The evil influence of Satan was evident in the highest ranks of the Catholic hierarchy, with “cardinals who do not believe in Jesus and bishops who are linked to the demon,” Father Amorth said.

In a rare insight into the world of exorcism, the Italian priest told La Repubblica newspaper that the 1973 film The Exorcist gave a “substantially exact” impression of what it was like to be possessed by the Devil.

People possessed by evil sometimes had to be physically restrained by half a dozen people while they were exorcised. They would scream, utter blasphemies and spit out sharp objects, he said.

2,000 year old desert death cults still have an influence on people. Deva, deva!

  1. Why does the Catholic Church have this fetish for children?

Not a rhetorical question, I’m trying to understand the phenomenon. Let’s assume that the priests are, because of the ecclesiastical burden they bear, sexually starved. But do sexually starved people necessarily assault young boys? Why not women, the obvious choice of heterosexual adult males? Or why not turn gay and screw each other? Why abuse little boys? Because they can be intimidated into silence? Why not goats or sheep in that case — they don’t speak human language at all!

I have a hypothesis regarding this phenomenon..”Why do the Catholic Priests have this fetish for children?” and its this –
Basically a large majority of catholic priests are latent homosexuals. Why do I say that? Basically when you reach puberty, you pretty much realize that you either are attracted to girls or else boys. If you are attracted to girls, there is no stigma and you can look forward to a ‘normal’ life…i.e there is less motivation to become a priest. If you are attracted to boys, you realize your behavior is pretty much disapproved by most people in society (unfortunately that is how it is today). On top of that if your family is religious, one of the ways you could supposedly use to overpower your instincts is to become a priest. When you grow up repressed, its only a matter of time until you fold under your own impulses. And when you do fold, the first thing in the the queue is the memory of all the other young boys you were attracted to when you were a kid. Now that you are in a position of authority and have easy access to young boys, its only a matter of time until you start abusing them. This is specially significant for catholics because, most other denominations/religions do allow priests to get married, so they need not be latent homosexuals to adopt a life of priesthood. I’m sure there are homosexual priests in other religions too, but a complete lack of any sexual activity for catholics probably exacerbates the condition.

  3. Should you get the time, it would be great if you could watch the Christopher Hitchens and Stephen Fry debate Catholics on Intelligence squared.
They massacred the Catholics with their arguments. At the end of the day only 285 people voted in favour of the motion (The Catholic Church is a force for good) and 1785 people voted in against the motion.
These are the signs of a civilized society where no topic including religion is a taboo. Although I am not sure if things will remain as they are as the danger of a Eurabia is almost certain. There is still hope for Europe since the masses who dare stand up against the facism of religion don’t get their voices chocked on by the pious.
A far cry from India, where you can get arrested for throwing some color on a fucking poster.
As a matter of fact India should stop calling itself a Democracy, for we can only express those views which don’t go against the standard polity of the gliterrati.
If people don’t stand up against these evil religious philosphies that threaten our very existed, it would not be long before history repeats itself. Somehow I feel that those who overtook this country before will do so again and this time they wont any living men to tell tales of what transpired.

You wrote, “Pope himself looks like a devil in that pic lol!!!”

Really!!? I never thought of that. I did not see what looks like horns on his head. Damn, I surely got fooled. I innocently picked up that picture thinking that it was just an ordinary picture.

    1. That’s an accurate description of the higher orders of the Catholic church, Alnath. You are absolutely right that the pope and his minions should stop their hate and prejudice and let others live in peace. Thank you.

  6. Alnath, most of the people here are not prejudiced. The word prejudice comes frm “pre-judging”. We are not pre judging them, we are judging them for what they are.
If you can’t judge someone based on their actions and words then I guess you need to improve your critical faculties.

  7. remember the colossal waste of money when Pope John Paul II visited India. He supposedly had a real funky seat to sit on, which could be used as a flush as well for emptying his bowels. Amazed how people can blindly follow such people who live in the dark ages.

  9. One of the declared excuses of conversions (funded by catholic church) is to save the souls from getting condemned to eternal hell. Mormons go a step further; they take records of cemeteries and convert the dead posthumously to save the souls burning in hell for hundreds of years. Come on. Fear of hell cannot hold ones faith, there got to be something more. The doctrinal shortcoming there is frightening. Advanced civilizations we see in the west are thus dominated by a religion that mandates its followers to believe in the heaven/hell for after life. The belief is so damn thorough that if you say you are a hindu, immediately your place in hell crosses their minds. Another common criticism is that ‘sin all you want from Monday to Saturday and seek forgiveness on Sunday and then repeat the cycle all over again’. This belief is universally made fun of. Also, born sin (or original sin) was ridiculed upon by critics. One significant question, why the CREATOR had sent his son to earth just only 2000 years go whilst human beings were around for hundreds of thousands of years was not answered either. Western Europe is now overwhelmingly disillusioned. Indian poor are getting converted by thousands on a weekly basis thanks to millions of euros flowing in there. Thus, Asians are pumping up the numbers, whilst atheists are doing a thorough job depleting European churches. The pope did not apologize for Goa Inquisition even during his last visit there.Surya, Chicago
