MCP Sighting

An Air India ad: “If you fly with us, your wife flies free.”

Seen today on a huge billboard on the road from Pune to Mumbai. The generous explanation is that Air India perhaps does not know that everyone does not have a wife; some people actually have husbands. But perhaps Air India is staffed by male chauvinist pigs, just like the rest of Indian society.

{Earlier I typed “fee” instead of “free.” Sorry for the typo.}

    Is the typo “fee” and not “free” also part of the billboard? I wouldn’t put it past them.

    Thanks, SG, for pointing that out.

    If it’s any consolation, SpiceJet advertises similar feature as: “It won’t be lonely at the top any more.”

    And they have been careful in their explanation too:
    “Starting January 19, 2009 you’re going to have a ball in the skies with SpiceJet Happy Hours. When you make a booking for 2 or more passengers in a single transaction, every 2nd passenger will fly free*”

    Similar to Air India, IndiGo advertises, “Sleep with your wife. Same day return flights from all metros.”
